Tracy Alan McDonald, 58, of Richmond County, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family Friday, June 7, 2024, at Duke University Hospital.

Tracy was a son of the late Furman and Adeline McDonald.

Along with his parents, Tracy is preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Adcock McDonald, to whom he shared many blissful years with before her passing in 1998. He is further preceded by his oldest son, Robert McDonald, who passed in 2017.

Tracy was a well-known man in Richmond County and truly one of a kind. He grew up in Rockingham and went on to build his own business, McDonald Electric, where he owned and operated for many years. Thereafter, Tracy also worked for the city of Rockingham.

Outside of work, Tracy loved camping and going on his boat. He was a smart and innovative man that enjoyed creating and building. He enjoyed driving fast and riding his beautiful motorcycle across town. There was never a dull moment with Tracy. He was a man that embodied the phrase “Live life to the fullest,” and he will be greatly missed.

Tracy is survived by his children, Heather James (Kerry) of Shallotte, Casey McDonald (Garrett) of Rockingham, Tyler Player of Hamlet, Madison McDonald of Apex, Ava Meacham of Rockingham, and Isaac McDonald also of Rockingham; grandchildren, Jonathan James and Cash McDonald; siblings, Phil McDonald (Martha), Vivian Stoner (Jackie), and Cindy Cagle (Joe), all of Rockingham. Tracy also leaves behind his loyal and beloved dog, Zuma, several nieces and nephews and many friends in his community.

An outdoor memorial service will be held at McDonald Baptist Church Cemetery, Tuesday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Moody officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation in the fellowship hall following the service.

In regard to flowers, the family asks for any sprays or arrangements to be sent to the funeral home or the cemetery rather than the home.
