RICHMOND, Ind. — Three juveniles have been arrested in Richmond after police say they recently attacked a homeless person and vandalized a local parking garage.

The Richmond Police Department announced Tuesday the arrests of three juveniles in connection to a vandalism and attack on a homeless person who was sleeping in a local parking garage. Police credited “observant citizens” and an “intensive investigation” for the arrests.

RPD said that detectives used surveillance footage, witness statements and forensic evidence to track down the minor suspects.

The three juveniles, who were not named by police due to their age, were later taken into custody on charges of vandalism, assault and more.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all members of our community, including our most vulnerable,” said RPD Chief Kyle Weatherly. “This arrest is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our officers, and the cooperation of our community members. We truly see the power we all have to make this city great when we work together.”

RPD went on to thank the community for their support and information. Anyone with more information on this case or other crimes is being asked to call Richmond Police at 911. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
