🤼‍♂️🎶 The Visionary Center opens for learning

    By Evan Weaver, Richmond Palladium-Item,

    Good morning!

Here's my daily piece of advice: Today is one of those days to get out and begin going after one of your dreams and passions, if you haven't started yet.

Sound too corny? Today's top story should prove otherwise and at the very least inspire you.

Your Thursday Richmond weather forecast: A high of 85, low of 71. Scattered thunderstorms. ⛈

🎶 Song of the day 🎶

Have you ever had dreams and aspirations and envisioned doing them 15 years later? Michael Johnson has.

A pro wrestler in Richmond for 20 years, better known as his ring name "Dante the Black Angel," Johnson has always pictured himself being involved with music and wrestling.

From releasing an album to beginning Visionary Championship Wrestling in 2009, Johnson said opening The Visionary Center is a dream come true.

The center, which will host pro wrestling shows and live concerts, is also open to wrestling and music classes and soon will be able to hold other events.

    👩‍💼 Questions with a community leader 👨‍💼

This week, I spoke with Wayne County Convention & Tourism Bureau Communications and Operations Manager Angel Gray, who has been with the bureau since 2012.

Q: How did you end up in your role?

I started at the front desk just greeting visitors who came in on weekends and discovered that I really had a passion for the community and promoting everything that we have to offer in Wayne County. I kind of moved up in the ranks here so that I had more of a job where I was able to promote the community and kind of interact with the public more.

Q: What is your favorite part of your job?

I think my favorite part of my job is just having the ability to promote my home. I lived here all my life and I raised my family here, so Richmond and Wayne County kind of hold a special place in my heart, and having a job where I get to promote something that I love just makes it really worthwhile.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

Anything outdoors. My family and I go hiking at a lot of the local trails. We ride our bikes and we just really enjoy all the local festivals. We try to get to as many as we can. My three children all love all the fun annual festivals that occur throughout the community.

Thank you for taking the time to read through today's newsletter. I always appreciate any story tips you may have to better serve you and the city of Richmond. My email address is eweaver@gannett.com and you can follow me on X (@evan_weaver7).

    See you tomorrow!
