Hallowell makes more cuts to budget after citizens' tax concerns
HALLOWELL (WGME) - There's an ongoing fight over property taxes and the city budget in Hallowell, where more than 200 residents petitioned city leaders to make more cuts. Surprise! Wiscasset’s Simmons wins leadership award among Maine town, city, county management peers
Wiscasset Town Manager Dennis Simmons on Wednesday, Aug. 14 won Maine Town, City & County Management Association (MTCMA)’s Leadership Award. In a surprise that town officials worked for weeks to keep from Simmons after Economic Development Director Aaron Chrostowsky got word July 31 of the win, Simmons received the honor at MTCMA’s annual luncheon at Sunday River.

SABATTUS, Maine — Emergency crews responded to the scene of a "serious" crash involving a bicyclist Thursday afternoon in Sabattus. Sabattus Fire Chief Adam Thacker told NEWS CENTER Maine the crash happened on Litchfield Road and involved a car and bicyclist. Palestinians working to end domestic violence travel to Camden to learn from Finding Our Voices
Palestinians from the West Bank working to curb gender-based violence in their communities met with Finding Our Voices on August 6 for guidance on ways to do that. The delegation’s Camden stop was part of a three-week, State Department-sponsored tour of the US that included visits with groups combatting domestic violence in Washington D.C., Minnesota, and Las Vegas. Allison Hodgkins, executive director of the World Affairs Council of Maine, said the Palestinian group’s “focused goal” in developing an effective public awareness campaign is what led her to want to include a visit with Finding Our Voices on the Maine leg of the tour.
