    This week, Boomer highlights 10 days of culinary events, a film and a play that explore American truth, an Asian celebration, and orchids. All in “What’s Booming RVA: Drink Wine, Explore Truth.”

    “Current: A Descendant’s Journey for Truth”

    Feb. 23, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Library of Virginia

    This documentary film follows rivers and pathways that carried enslaved people to Virginia and other places of bondage and resistance. It includes commentary by Virginia artists, teachers, students, historians, family history researchers, faith leaders, social justice advocates, and others. Preview Virginia portions of this documentary and participate in a discussion with the producer, director, and other team members. FREE, registration required.

    Orchids: Let’s Celebrate

    Feb. 23 to 25, 2024, at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

    The Virginia Orchid Society presents its annual show, with hundreds of orchids on display, lectures for beginners and experienced growers, vendor sales of orchids and accessories, and an art exhibit.

    Feb.23 to March 3 at a variety of venues around Richmond

    Walk-Around Grand Tastings at Main Street Station, Richmond

    Walk-Around Grand Tastings feature wines from Virginia and 2024 highlighted regions – Italy and Oregon – and other wines from around the world, as well as taste dozens of spirits, ciders, and meads from Virginia. Other special events appeal to spirits enthusiasts and foodies as well, for experiences and educational seminars – wine dinners, themed events, such as SMOKED!, Oyster Eat, Tequilabamba, Bacchanalia, and POP ITALIA! And more.

    Lunar New Year Asian Street Food Festival

    Feb. 24, noon to 6 p.m., at Stone Brewing, Richmond

    Get a taste of Asia with an extensive collection of food vendors, performances, and artists, crafters, and healers.

    “To Kill a Mockingbird”

    Feb. 27 to March 2 at Altria Theater, Richmond

    Harper Lee’s powerful, moving 1960 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel comes to the stage. Academy Award-winning Aaron Sorkin adapted the story, which opened on Broadway in 2018. Richard Thomas plays Atticus Finch.
