    Mike Birbiglia: Please Stop the Ride

    June 27, 7 p.m., at Dominion Energy Center, Richmond

    If he isn’t already, Mike Birbiglia could become one of your favorite comedians. The stand-up comedian, storyteller, director, and actor weaves comedy into relatable true-to-life stories that make audiences laugh while filling them with warm fuzzies and new thoughts.

    Hill of Heroes

    June 28 at the Virginia War Memorial, Richmond

    Each year, the Virginia War Memorial places 12,000 flags on the hillside to honor Virginians killed in service to the country from WWI to today. Community members are invited to help. Installation followed by a Community Celebration with military demonstrations, crafts, scavenger hunt, and more. June 28: installation from 8 to 10 a.m.; celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; flags on display through July 11.

    Virginia Is For Music Lovers: Listening Session and Artist Talk

    June 29, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Black History Museum, Richmond

    As part of the exhibition “Virginia Is For Music Lovers: An Exploration of Virginia’s Black Excellence In Music,” this program features a unique listening session and an engaging discussion with local musicians, artists, and DJs. FREE, registration required.

    Pocahontas Premieres: Brooke McBride w/ Jimmy Fitch

    June 29, 7 to 10 p.m., at Pocahontas State Park, Chesterfield

    Music under the stars at the park amphitheater. Brooke McBride, with her raw, sultry, “smokey Southern” voice and storytelling, has opened for Uncle Kracker, Tracy Lawrence, Lonestar, Sammy Kershaw, Walker Hayes, Aaron Tippin, and more. Opening act features local artist Jimmy Fitch, for a high-energy act that conjures John Anderson, Keith Whitley, and Johnny Paycheck.

    Dogwood Dell 67th Festival of the Arts: The KOS Band

    June 29, 8 p.m., at Dogwood Dell, Richmond

    The Kings of Swing perform dance music from a variety of genres – Top 40, Motown, funk, rock, reggae. FREE.
