RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A man and a woman are in the hospital after police said they were shot in Richmond’s Southside Monday morning.

According to the Richmond Police Department, officers were called to the 2600 block of Hull Street at around 11:14 a.m. on Monday, July 1 for a report of gunfire. When the officers arrived, they could not find a crime scene but later, at around 11:51 a.m., they were called to the intersection of East 5th Street and Decatur Street for a report of a person shot.

At the intersection of East 5th Street and Decatur Street, the officers found a man and a woman who had been shot. Both victims were taken to a local hospital, the woman’s injuries are considered life-threatening and the man’s injuries are not.

Detectives investigating this incident have determined that both calls were related and that the shooting took place on the 100 block of Evans Street, near where the officers were initially called to on Hull Street.
