RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — July 4 marks 100 years since the Caesar salad was invented — and luckily there are several places in Richmond to grab one.

According to the Associated Press , the Caesar salad was invented by Italian immigrant Caesar Cardini on July 4, 1924. His restaurant, Caesar’s Place, located in Tijuana, Mexico was hosting a large amount of Californians attempting to escape prohibition by crossing the border.

In honor of its birthday, here’s four spots where you can get a Caesar salad in Richmond.

Truffle Caesar

The Can Can Brasserie is a Parisian-style restaurant in Carytown. It serves a Truffle Caesar salad for brunch, lunch and dinner. The Truffle Caesar consists of anchovy, romaine, parmesan and brioche croutons.

Pinky’s, a Mediterranean restaurant in Scott’s Addition, serves a Caesar on the Coast for lunch and dinner. Their take on a Caesar includes charred romaine, parmigiano-reggiano, sardella (a fish and hot pepper sauce) and roasted garlic croutons.
