    Woman and child struck by vehicle in Henrico County hit-and-run

    RICHMOND, Va. -- This is an updated story. The original copy can be found down below.

    Henrico County police say they are continuing their investigation into a hit-and-run crash that happened in the Varina District of the county.

    According to police, Friday morning at 1:15 a.m. they were called to the 5700 block of Nine Mile Road for a reported vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

    Once on scene officers say they found an adult female and an infant who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.

    "Both victims were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries," Henrico Police would explain in a release.

    The vehicle that was involved in the crash did not stay at the scene.

    Investigators say that they believe the victim was walking against traffic on the shoulder of eastbound Nine Mile Road when the suspect vehicle struck her.

    Police believe they are looking for a silver sedan/coupe in their investigation.

    Investigators tell CBS 6 that the incident happened in the 5700 bock of Nine Mile Road at around 1:15 a.m. Friday morning. That's near the New Bridge Learning Center.

    Police say when officers arrived the vehicle involved in the collision was not at the scene.

    The victims were taken to a hospital with what first responders describe as non-life-threatening injuries.

    The incident is under investigation.
