RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) will continue to host weekly free jazz performances, as Dominion Energy has renewed its sponsorship of the popular Dominion Energy Jazz Café.

These performances began back in 2010 in partnership with the Richmond Jazz Society, according to a July 16 press release from the VMFA. Since 2015, the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation has sponsored this series, continuing to draw new audiences to the museum.

“Dominion Energy Jazz Café is an anchor in the museum’s evening programming, which plays an important role in increasing accessibility to the museum,” the release reads.

Every Wednesday, jazz lovers can head down to the VMFA to see various local musicians perform for free at the museum’s Cochrane Atrium. The roster changes regularly, keeping things fresh and highlighting “a broad spectrum of jazz styles,” according to the release.

Of course, those who stop by for the music are also welcome to peruse the VMFA’s permanent collection galleries. These fixtures are always free to all visitors.

“The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts serves the community by offering diverse programs and events throughout the year, in addition to offering free access, 365 days a year, to our remarkable global art collection,” said VMFA Director and CEO Alex Nyerges. “Dominion’s generous support of our popular Jazz Café series is instrumental in helping to provide more Virginians with access to the arts and introduces the museum to new audiences.”

The VMFA is open until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
