The search for Richmond's official dog

    Is your dog super "Richmond?"

    • Do they have the attitude of someone who hates to cross the river, has had their car towed at least thrice and assumes anyone with an RVA sticker lives in Chesterfield?
    • And, most importantly, is he a good boy ... when it comes to sniffing butts in Barker Field?

Why it matters: The organizers of 804 Day are searching for the "most Richmond dog" to represent the city at this year's celebration — and that dog could be yours. All you have to do is play to win.

How it works: Nominate your dog by completing the entry form (a pic of your dog and a brief description) at StyleWeekly.com by noon on Thursday, July 18.

What the winning pup gets: A prize from Fan Vet, featured on StyleWeekly.com and their photo portrait by Style photographer Scott Elmquist.

    • Plus: The winning pup will be Richmond's Official Dog with unclear, onstage "ceremonial duties" for the second annual 804 Day event on Aug. 2 in Shockoe Bottom.
    • And have the best bragging rights.

What's next: The public will get to vote for the winning pup beginning Friday.

Worth noting: There's no official criteria for the Richmond dog, 804 Day spokesperson Jason Roop tells Axios.

    • So we decided to make up the above Richmond qualities. How'd we do? Reply and let us know.
