A cooler Thursday in store for Central Virginia with chances for storms

RICHMOND, Va. -- A cold front will be in the area today, and this will keep the threat for showers and storms around through this afternoon. Storms will be more concentrated south of I-64.

We have a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) in much of the metro for a few strong or severe storms. There is a slight risk (level 2 out of 5) from around Wakefield to South Hill. Some gusty winds and hail are possible. Any shower or storm will produce heavy rainfall.

It will stay muggy today, but temperatures will stay in the 80s for most areas.

Less humid air will move into the region on Friday. Many areas will stay dry, but an isolated shower or storm cannot be ruled out. The best chance of a shower will be across far southeastern VA.

Muggy air will return this weekend with highs 85-90. There will be scattered storms around, with a higher chance of rain on Saturday.

It will stay unsettled next week with a chance of scattered storms each day. Highs will be in the 80s to around 90, and it will be muggy.
