RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Many agencies and some hospitals in Virginia are experiencing the effects of the global IT outage Friday morning.

According to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles , its customer service centers will be closed until noon Friday, July 19 and its website cannot currently carry out online transactions due to the outage.

A spokesperson for the Chesterfield County Police Department said it is unable to receive information regarding vehicles from the Department of Motor Vehicles due to the outage, though it’s experiencing no other issues.

In addition, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) sent a message to the university community saying that the outage is impacting computers at VCU and VCU Health, citing an issue that came from a software update from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike.
