Work to repair East Broad Street bridge over I-95 in downtown Richmond postponed

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Virginia Department of Transportation has announced that work to repair the East Broad Street bridge over Interstate 95 in downtown Richmond has been postponed.

According to the department, a weekend closure scheduled to take place between Friday, July 19 at 8 p.m. and Monday, July 22 at 6 a.m. has been postponed. The department has not yet announced a new date for the closure, during which each direction of travel on I-95 will be reduced to one travel lane and all lanes of East Broad Street will be closed.

Pedestrians will still have access to East Broad Street during the closure, drivers are asked to use I-295, I-195, Route 288, and Route 1/301 to avoid significant delays when traveling through Richmond.
