RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Police and community members are searching for a missing 14-year-old girl in Richmond.

The Richmond Police Department is investigating the disappearance of Asiah Mosby , who’s been gone since Monday afternoon, according to her family.

“We’re at home waiting for you, I haven’t stopped looking for you,” said Tiara Bailey, Mosby’s mother. “We are out here day and night, we are not giving up until we get you back. I promise you, I’m not giving up. I’m not, not until you’re back in my arms.”

Bailey said her daughter is quiet and likes to keep to herself, but has a sweet soul. She said the last time she spoke to her was on Monday afternoon.

“She got up and she went in the shower, came out, brushed her teeth, went in her room and that was that,” Bailey said.

Missing persons posters could be seen up in the St. John’s Wood apartment complex on Friday afternoon, an area Bailey said her young daughter visited frequently.

Bailey explained she is worried for her daughter’s safety because of the other child she believes she could be with.

“This isn’t my daughter, she doesn’t run away, she’s never run away so that’s why I’m concerned,” Bailey said.

The Richmond Police Department told 8News earlier this week they are investigating Mosby’s case as a runaway. However, Bailey said that doesn’t make the situation any less dangerous.

“Clearly runaways don’t get help, because they willingly left home,” Bailey said.

Bailey added the outpouring of support she’s received from the community has been comforting, and now she hopes they can all bring her daughter home together.

“I’m extremely grateful for everyone. The phone calls and text messages, the prayers, the emails, the reshares. The reshares, she’s gone viral. We’re gonna find her, I know we are,” Bailey said.

Mosby has brown eyes and curly hair. Her family said she was last seen wearing a black shirt, clear glasses and a black Nike book bag.

Anyone with any information about her whereabouts is asked to contact police at 804-646-6764 or her mother at 804-397-1897.
