Local non-profit Tech For Troops celebrates 10th anniversary in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Local non-profit organization Tech For Troops celebrated its 10th anniversary in Richmond on Saturday with food, drinks and fun activities.

On Saturday, July 20, non-profit organization Tech For Troops held a 10th Anniversary Birthday Party at its facility located at 4840 Waller Road in Richmond.

Tech For Troops supports veterans by collecting used technology, such as laptops, and refurbishing them for veterans to use to create resumes, apply for jobs or telehealth their medical appointments.

Mark Casper, President and CEO of Tech For Troops, said the event was a way for the community to learn about the organization while enjoying food and drinks.

Casper said the organization also ships technology nationwide and provides over 5,000 free classes that veterans can take online.

“Veterans are not looking for a handout,” Casper said. “Nobody wants to be in poverty. Nobody wants to be homeless. So, let’s help the veteran get from where they’re at to where they want to be, so they can have a family or support their family, [or] go to school.”

Casper said people can support the organization by volunteering or donating money, equipment and electronics.
