    Work continues for E. Broad Street and I-95 bridge project

    UPDATE: According to VDOT, all lanes are open and the scene is clear.

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Work for the East Broad Street and Interstate 95 bridge project will continue over the weekend, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

    The department said bridge work will continue from 8 p.m. on Friday, July 26 through 6 a.m. on Monday, July 29.

    The northbound and southbound lanes of I-95 on the bridge over the James River will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Broad Street in both directions at the bridge over I-95 will also be closed through the weekend.

    This comes after work was previously scheduled to begin Friday, July 19 and was postponed .

    Pedestrian access on Broad Street will remain available.

    Pedestrians will still have access to East Broad Street during the closure, drivers are asked to use I-295, I-195, Route 288, and Route 1/301 to avoid significant delays when traveling through Richmond.
