Hampden-Sydney College hires new baseball coach

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Hampden-Sydney College Tigers announced their new head baseball coach on Friday. The Tigers named Michael Mulvey the new head coach of the baseball team.

Mulvey joins Hampden-Sydney from Marietta (OH) College where he has been the team pitching coach since 2019. Prior to his time at Marietta he spent time coaching at Muskingum University, Misericordia University, and one year at Denison University each school a member of Divison-III.

Athletic Director Chad Eisele released the following statement alongside the announcement of the new head coach. “I am excited to have Mike leading our baseball program,” said Eisele. “His championship experience as a player and a coach in highly competitive Division III conferences will help Tiger baseball in becoming a top ODAC contender with national aspirations.”

Mulvey replaces Jeff Kinne who resigned from the position following his 21st season with Hampden-Sydney.

The new head coach shared this statement alongside the news of his hiring. “My wife Lindsay and I are extremely excited for this next chapter,” explained Mulvey. “I would like to thank Chad Eisele and President Larry Stimpert for the opportunity to lead the Hampden-Sydney baseball program. Lindsay and I look forward to immersing ourselves in the H-SC community. It’s a special place and we look forward to building upon the rich tradition and brotherhood that it instills. We will strive to create a winning culture, and field a competitive program in one of the best Division III athletic conferences in the country.”
