CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The 2024 Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival will take place this weekend at a new location due to unsafe E. coli levels in the James River near downtown Richmond .

According to Sports Backers, this year’s festival will take place at Robious Landing Park, located at 3800 James River Road in the Midlothian area of Chesterfield County, due to the E. coli levels around Rocketts Landing, the festival’s usual location.

Admission to the 500m dragon boat race ranges in cost from $945 to $1,845 per team and each team is made up of 22 people — one steerperson, one drummer and 20 paddlers.

The festival will take place Saturday, Aug. 3. More information about the event and admission can be found here .
