    Man sentenced to 4 years for transporting cocaine from Texas to Virginia

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to four years and four months in federal prison for transporting over 15 kilograms of cocaine from Texas to the Richmond area.

    According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), 30-year-old Jesus Alejandro Ibarra-Morales traveled to Brownsville, Texas from Mexico in November 2023 and picked up two car dollies, which were packed with over 15 kilograms of cocaine in their axles.

    Law enforcement agents were notified that a shipment of drugs was on its way to Virginia. According to the DOJ, they stopped the vehicle Ibarra-Morales was driving in the Richmond area and found the cocaine inside.

    Ibarra-Morales was sentenced on Friday, Aug. 2.
