Tryon Celebrates a Diverse Arts Community
Tryon – Arts aficionados have a chance to explore a variety of mediums in disciplines in one location during Tryon’s 4th Friday event on Friday, July 26 from 5 to 7 PM. Sponsored by the Tryon Downtown Development Association, 4th Friday takes place the fourth Friday of every month and features extended shopping hours and special entertainment in Tryon’s downtown, as well as an art walk to the many galleries that line Tryon’s Trade Street and the surrounding areas.

Catawba Seniors Morning Out For August
HICKORY, N.C. –Participants will enjoy a variety of activities in August including a trip to the farmers market, crafting classes, and cooking demonstrations. Any resident of Catawba County who is 60 or older is invited to join Seniors Morning Out, which is held Monday through Thursday mornings at five convenient locations. A hot, balanced lunch is served each day. Programs are free to participants, who may pick and choose which days to attend. Bus transportation to and from the sites is available in some locations.

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Eligible Buncombe County homeowners have an opportunity to receive financial assistance for housing-related costs. Now in its fourth year, the inquiry process for the 2024 Homeowner Grant Program has opened up to the public, a release from Buncombe County government says. NC Department of Transportation upgrades traffic signals to improve pedestrian safety
North Carolina Department of Transportation is improving pedestrian safety through upgrading traffic signals.According to a Friday press release, NCDOT is adding a 'leading pedestrian interval' or LPI, to its traffic signals. This gives pedestrians a three to seven-second head start to enter the crosswalk before drivers who must yield before making a turn."This change makes pedestrians more visible for drivers," Nick Zinser, NCDOT's Western Region Signals Engineer, said.
