Maryland State Police have identified the truck driver who died Tuesday morning, related to a crash south of Cascade, as Daniel Edward Ryan, 41, of Ridgeley, W.Va.

Ryan was declared dead at the scene of the crash, according to a Tuesday afternoon update from state police.

    Ridgeley is near Cumberland, Md.

State police continue to investigate the cause of the single-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer that overturned on Raven Rock Road, also known as Md. 491. The crash occurred along a stretch of Raven Rock Road in northwest Frederick County.

The crash occurred around 7:35 a.m. Tuesday with the driver entrapped in the truck, according to state police at the Frederick barrack.

Raven Rock Road was closed from Wise Road to Buck Lantz Road for several hours following the crash. The road was expected to reopen around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The closure was due in part to aid investigators and to clean up the road, state police spokesperson Ron Snyder said in an email.

The state police Crash Team is leading the investigation, with help from the Frederick barrack and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, according to a state police news release.

The State Highway Administration helped with the road closure.
