A tale of two cities: West Columbia and Columbia looking to spend $8.5 Million dollars for pedestrian bridge
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Columbia and West Columbia are partnering to build a new pedestrian bridge across the Saluda River. The $8.5 million dollar project is said to be mutually beneficial for both cities. Columbia Assistant City Manager Clint Shealy told WIS the city’s original concept was to address sanitary overflow by the Riverbank Zoo with a sanitary pump under the Saluda River.
R2 Board pay increases with more meetings
COLUMBIA – Richland Two school board members say they aren’t enriching themselves at taxapayer expense by meeting more often. Until recently, district policy set trustee pay at $395 per person, per meeting, according to Chair Joe Trapp. The policy also caps the total number of meetings at 30, which is also a requirement of state law.
