Rocks Rock: Ridgewood Parks & Recreation Offering "Rock On" Geology Summer Camp for Kids

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Is your child interested in rock? Sorry, not rock — rocks? If so, Ridgewood Parks & Recreation might have the summer camp for you. At the week-long "Rock On" camp, children ages 6 to 10 can learn about plate tectonics, volcanology, earthquakes, types of rock, glaciation, identifying local rocks, mining and mineral exploration, gems and minerals. The camp will run from Aug. 5 to Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Stable on 259 N. Maple Ave.

Each child will receive a basic illustrated reference book geared to their ages for further study after the Camp ends. It will cost $275 for Ridgewood residents and $290 for non-residents.
