Pat Houser Golf Tournament Raises $30K for Skills of Central PA
Four golfers representing Sheetz Inc. claimed the title of 2024 champions at the 19th annual Pat Houser Golf Tournament on Aug. 19 at Toftrees Resort. Hosted by the Skills Foundation, the event raised over $30,000 to assist people with intellectual disabilities supported by Skills of Central PA in 17 counties. Competing in a “shamble” format, 22 teams squared off in the tournament, which memorializes a founding member of the Skills Board of Directors, Pat Houser. Pirates' Hunter Stratton carted off field after patella tendon rupture
Pirates right-hander Hunter Stratton suffered a left knee patella tendon rupture during the fourth inning of the Bucs’ 10-2 loss to the Reds on Saturday. Stratton had just entered the game in relief of Jake Woodford, and his fourth pitch of the appearance was a wild pitch that evaded catcher Joey Bart. As Jonathan India raced home to score from third base, Bart’s toss to Stratton (covering home plate) bounced off Stratton’s glove and rolled to the backstop.
