Pro Tips for Perfect Apple Fritter Bread

    1. Use fresh, firm apples: Choose a variety like Granny Smith, Cortland, or Honeycrisp for the best texture and flavor. The tartness of these apples balances out the sweetness of the bread.

    2. Make sure you layer the apples; don't mix them directly into the batter.

    3. If you are looking for some crunch, walnuts or pecans make a wonderful addition.

    4. Check for doneness: Insert a toothpick into the center of the bread. If the toothpick emerges clean or reveals a few moist crumbs, the bread is ready. Be careful not to overbake.

    5. Allow your bread to cool prior to glazing: Allow the bread to cool completely before adding the glaze. This ensures the glaze stays on top instead of soaking into the bread.

    6. Freeze in Slices: For simple access, freeze individual slices wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in a freezer bag. Thaw a slice at room temperature or pop it in the microwave for a quick treat.

Enjoy this Apple Fritter Bread at any time of the year; it pairs best with a hot cup of coffee or tea and a good book.

    Ingredients:

    • 2/3 C. Dk. brown sugar
    • 1 1/2 tbsp. ground cinnamon
    • 4 Honeycrisp apples (peel and chop into bite size pieces)
    • 1 tbsp. of lemon juice
    • 1 1/3 cup granulated sugar + 1/4 cup
    • 2 sticks of softened butter
    • 4 large eggs, room temperature
    • 1 tbsp. pure vanilla extract
    • 3 C. flour
    • 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    • 2 tsp. kosher salt

    Glaze Ingredients

    • 1 C. plus 1/3 C. of milk
    • 2 C. confectionary sugar

    Directions:

    • Warm your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Generously grease and flour your loaf pans.
    • Take your brown sugar and 1/2 tablespoon of ground cinnamon and stir to combine. Set to the side.
    • Peel and dice up your apples. Toss with a tablespoon of lemon juice. Sprinkle your 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon over the top and stir. Set to the side.
    • Using a stand mixer, add your softened butter and remaining sugar (1 1/3 cup). Beat until light and fluffy. It will take about 4–6 minutes. Then, one at a time, add your eggs and vanilla extract.
    • In a large bowl, add your flour, salt, and baking powder. Whisk well to combine. Once whisked, slowly add your flour mixture to your butter and egg mixture. Beat well until combined. Pour in 1 cup of milk and blend until smooth.
    • Next, grab your prepared loaf pans and pour 1/4 of your batter into each pan. Sprinkle 1/4 of your cinnamon, apple, and sugar mixture into each pan, followed by 1/4 of your brown sugar mixture.
    • Add the remaining batter evenly over your two loaf pans, then sprinkle the remaining apples and brown sugar mixture over the top.
    • Using the back of a knife, gently press your apples into your batter, and then use the knife to swirl around your brown sugar.
    • Place your loaves in your preheated oven and bake for 70 minutes. Use a toothpick in the center of the loaf to check its doneness; it should come out clean.
    • Watch your bread closely; if it's browning excessively, cover it with aluminum foil for the final 10 to 15 minutes.
    • Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for 20 minutes. Then turn over and release from your pan, and let your bread finish cooling on your wire rack.

    Glaze

    • Add your confectionary sugar, then slowly pour in your milk. Begin with 1/4 cup and mix; thin to the desired consistency. If you make your glaze too runny, just add some additional confectionary sugar.
    • Slowly pour the glaze over your loaves.

    Enjoy Friends! ❤️
