Copycat Crunchwrap Supreme Is Easy Cheesy And Will Make Every Night A Taco Night!
2024-08-27
The Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme is, I think, my all-time favorite fast food item. They provide all the best parts of a crunchy taco, wrapped in a soft tortilla, and grilled or fried. It's portable, its cheesy, its crunchy, its perfect!
You can change the toppings to something a little healthier (more veggies and low-fat cheeses), and if you'd like, replace the tortilla with a whole wheat one. Anyone can customize their own by adding their favorite ingredients, such as handmade jalapenos, guacamole, or shredded chicken.
Pro Tips:
Large tortillas are required to accommodate all of the contents in this Crunchwrap. To avoid breaking, toss the tortilla in the microwave for a few seconds prior to preparation.
Any ground meat would do, even chicken, but I like to use ground beef seasoned with taco spice. Make your own taco seasoning mix with spices like cumin, garlic powder, and chili powder, or use a seasoning package.
Sautéed bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, green chilies, sliced olives, and refried beans are all things you can add!
You want to build these so the cold stuff is on one side of the crunchy tostada, and the hot stuff on the other. To prevent the lettuce from cooking, keep it in the middle of the wrap.
Use a handful of crispy tortilla chips in place of tostada shells if you don't have any; just make sure to break off any sharp corners to prevent the tortilla from ripping.
Inside a Crunchwrap: The Crunch
This copycat recipe for Crunch wrap Supreme gets crunch from a crunchy tostada shell. It resembles a large circular tortilla chip but is smaller and crispier than a corn tortilla.
How to Create the Ultimate Crunchwrap
A crispy tostada (or tortilla chips) inserted in the center of each tortilla is what makes this recipe so magical. Accompany with guacamole, salsa, or sour cream. To wash down all that zesty flavor, serve with a plate of cilantro-tomato rice and a pitcher of simple strawberry margaritas!
They taste best when eaten fresh because they contain sour cream and fresh vegetables.
You can reheat leftovers in the microwave, although the lettuce won't get crisp again.
This Crunchwrap Supreme, fried till crispy and melted, is ideal for taco night!
Ingredients
(5) sizable flour tortillas
Lean ground beef, one pound
One-half cup of water
3 tablespoons of taco seasoning
⅔ cup nacho cheese sauce
Four tostadas or two cups of tortilla chips
One-fourth of a cup sour cream
One cup of shredded iceberg lettuce
Chopped sweet onion (optional)
1 cup chopped tomatoes
2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
Directions
Cook the ground beef in a big skillet over medium heat until it browns. Remove any extra fat.
To the skillet, add taco seasoning and ⅓ cup of water. Simmer for about five minutes, until the sauce thickens.
Cut one of the flour tortillas into quarters, then round each of the four pieces' edges to make four circles.
Spoon the remaining four tortillas onto a platter and cover with a paper towel that has been dampened. Warm them up in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds.
Place one-half cup of ground beef in the middle of each full size tortilla, spoon on nacho cheese. Top that with a crunchy tostada. Layer on that, your lettuce, tomato, onion, and shredded cheese blend.
After positioning the quartered little circle tortilla in the center, carefully seal it by folding the bigger tortilla up over it.
Heat about a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet.
Seam side down, carefully put the folded tortillas into the skillet in batches and cook for 3–4 minutes, or until brown and crispy. Flip and do the same.
So, that's it! The hardest part is layering it all so it makes sense, but once you get the first one down, the rest is a breeze. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
