The Basketball Coaches Association of New York Summer Hoops Festival is approaching and the Central team rosters made up of Section III boys and girls have been announced. The BCANY Summer Hoops Festival is a three-day event that runs from July 26-28 at Johnson City Schools in Johnson City, just west of Binghamton. Boys and girls from across the state get together to represent their region in a tournament while also receiving training from college basketball coaches and learning about college recruiting.

Walker Exempts Club awarded the 2024 Alan Haight Memorial Scholarship Award to Jude Hare (left) from Hilton High School. The award was presented to him by Vice President Peter Smith. The award is given every year in memory of Alan Haight, who started the Walker Fire Department Exempts Club. He drew up the charter and got the organization going. They say the Spencerport, Brockport, Hamlin, Parma and Hilton communities have been amazing clientele, and getting to know their customers has been the highlight of their journey. “Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive,” Brittany said. The couple is now in their fourth month of business and can’t wait to meet new customers.
