Alabama is one state that does not get much media attention but is considered a hidden treasure by its residents and other people who have already visited the place as they saw plenty of beautiful things here. Amenities, shops, leisure, relaxation, and more may be acquired from this pleasant place. However, the downsides of this place are pretty disturbing and unsettling enough to keep some places in here off your travel list.

    Top 5: Birmingham

Also called the "Magic City," this place isn't that magical after all. Imagine living in a very place with a 1 in 52 chance of becoming a victim of most violent crimes. Is this something magical? We think not, and probably you too. People here also are out of work as unemployment rates are as high as 9%. The increase of crimes is as high as unemployment rates do. Regardless of those disadvantages, their "Magic City" tag can be at least related to the number of amenities, parks, and restaurants that this city offers. If you want to experience the magic that they've been talking about here, then you'll be best with a companion to ensure your safety.

    Top 4: Atmore

This town is the suburb of Mobile and is low in population. 1 in 6 houses here is vacant, meaning people always tend to leave this place. Wanna know why? 'Cause this town is high in other things like crime, unemployment, and poverty rates. You can never tell at least that this place is high in all things unpleasant for such a little place. So if you decide to settle in here, we bet you could not last a day or two. Speaking of the good side here, this place literally has more sunshine than the other cities in Alabama. Still, this place is not the perfect one to reside in.

    Top 3: Fairfield

Popular thanks to its proximity to Alabama's biggest city, Birmingham, many individuals still prefer to live here despite the many disadvantages that it brings. Although being near a city with many amenities and shops, most residents here board the poverty lines. Homes here over what the people earn here, which is why those who've had enough just left this place. Related to that, the unemployment here is awfully high... which is not really fair at all.

    Top 2: Anniston

The population here just dropped by 4.2%... wanna know why? This place has 30% of its residents living within the poverty lines, so the crime rates wouldn't want to travel down either. People here are so tired of living in poverty and dwelling in high unemployment rates. Surprisingly, this place has good spots for activities such as hiking and biking.

    Top 1: Bessemer

The top 1 worst place in Alabama also has the 6th spot for worst places within the country! If you want to settle here, you should have second thoughts, as this is not a good place. The poverty rate is beyond 30%, completely a concern for many, even those outside Alabama. Crime rates and unemployment rates feel like they're just the same. If people here were earning more, they still can't even get their hands on what they want... as this place has low access to amenities, doesn't have safe streets to steer on, and more. Go somewhere else if you don't want to spend your time here.

Alabama is indeed a hidden treasure, but some places aren't just worthwhile. If you want to live a satisfying, happy life, then you better choose what's good for you and your family.
