Trail Blazers to Face Rockets in Final Summer League Game
The Portland Trail Blazers will face the Houston Rockets in their fifth, and final, game of the 2024 NBA Summer League schedule in Las Vegas. The 2-2 Blazers did not qualify for the tournament title bracket. They and the Rockets—also carrying a 2-2 record—will play the nightcap game on Sunday before returning to their summer workouts and/or vacations.
After fatal drug overdose, Oregon State Hospital resumes limited in-person visits for patients
Oregon State Hospital will resume in-person visits for some patients on Monday after suspending them in May after a patient died of a suspected fentanyl overdose. Officials at the state-run psychiatric facility suspended in-person visits between patients and their family and friends so the hospital could retool its visiting policies, with an eye toward preventing visitors from passing drugs or other contraband on to patients. The hospital has nearly 700 patients between its main campus in Salem and a smaller satellite campus in Junction City.

Portland residents are bracing for a sweltering day as the National Weather Service's heat advisory remains firmly in place until 11 PM PDT this evening. Portland Woman Fatally Struck by Ambulance on I-84 Near Hood River While Tending to Flat Tire
Tragedy struck the otherwise quiet roads of I-84 in the early hours of Thursday when a woman fatally collided with an ambulance while tending to her flat tire. According to KOIN, Oregon State Police reported that the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. near milepost 54 in Hood River County. The victim was identified as Geraldean Edna Martin, 55, of Portland. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
