Lake Oswego to pay losing bidders for treatment plant project
As a way to ensure it receives attractive bids, the city of Lake Oswego will pay the top two losing bidders for a project to build a new wastewater treatment plant in the Foothills area. PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Summer temperatures will peak this week around Portland as highs warm into the mid to upper 90s. The summer heat has prompted heat alerts to fall over the Willamette Valley on Saturday. Dangerous heat will build into the mid to upper 90s by the afternoon hours. Corvallis standoff ends peacefully with arrest of armed felon
CORVALLIS, Ore. -- After a standoff lasting several hours, a 27-year-old armed felon from Corvallis was arrested and is facing multiple charges. On July 20, around 7:52 a.m., Corvallis Police were dispatched to a home on NW Lance Way after receiving reports of an armed convicted felon who was barricaded in the garage. He was allegedly making threatening statements related to a pending jail sentence.

Fires of unprecedented size and heat take years for areas to recover enough to ensure public safety. “The Willamette National Forest has had so much fire since 2020,”Lowell Evans, a fire recovery project manager, said at a recent U.S. Forest Service Middle Fork Ranger District meeting in Lowell. “Over 400,000 acres burned in four years, that’s a quarter of the forest and 190,000 acres on the Middle Fork District since fall of 2021.”
