WWE Plans For Roman Reigns Following His Big SummerSlam Return

We know he’s back, so here are what may be the WWE plans for Roman Reigns following his big SummerSlam return.

Leading up to the biggest party of the summer, WWE fans were thinking it was time. We had not seen the Tribal Chief since he lost at WrestleMania . The new Bloodline was doing damage to people whom he loved. Jimmy Uso was beaten out of the group, and the Wise Man, Paul Heyman? He was drive through a table and we have not seen him since. There was some chatter that Reigns wouldn’t return just yet , for match timeline reasons. Clearly they were wrong.

Now that he is back, what are those WWE plans for Roman Reigns? Per the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer (the same one who had said Reigns wasn’t coming back in Cleveland), here’s what’s going on. First, it seems likely to him that Solo and Roman will be first up. Supposedly, even before Jacob Fatu was possibly injured in the SummerSlam main event, the plan was to keep Fatu away from Reigns. Honestly, this is a bit curious. It indicates, if true, that WWE sees Reigns and Fatu as the bigger match.

It’s a bit odd

We know that some in the back were worried that Fatu, being more accomplished, could overshadow Solo Sikoa. While the Samoan Werewolf is a terror, he hasn’t overshadowed Solo as our faux tribal chief. So, given some alleged concerns, it would be weird to have Fatu/Reigns held back. It may be out of necessity i f he’s truly dealing with a significant injury . But per the report, keeping Reigns and Fatu apart-by sort of writing Fatu off TV for a bit-was the plan.

It is possible that this is the plan now, and changed following SummerSlam. That part we don’t know, because unless I was sleeping, the only thing mentioned on WWE television was that Jacob was “banged up”. But considering just a couple weeks ago, Meltzer didn’t think we’d see the Original Tribal Chief return quite yet? Well, take it with a grain of salt.
