While Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is viewed as the top bare-knuckle boxing promotion in the world, Top Dog Fighting Championship has quietly turned into a powerhouse in Russia.
For decades, bare-knuckle boxing was seen as a taboo version of the sport from a bygone age. It was something meant for alleyways around the world to settle scores between individuals. However, BKFC has brought the sport back to the masses in a big way over the last decade.
No longer is bare-knuckle fighting viewed negatively and the company has persuaded many state athletic commissions to legalize the sport around the United States. The company has grown so much that even UFC superstar Conor McGregor has purchased a minority ownership stake in the brand.
With money to be made, it has led to similar promotions popping up around the globe, and Top Dog Fighting Championship has quickly become one of the other notable brands in the industry. The Russian-based company has also made an effort to separate itself from BKFC and even BYB visually.
Instead of looking like classic boxing without gloves, Top Dog fights take place in a circle of hay bales. And instead of boxing trunks, competitors wear jeans or sweatpants. It offers a visual style similar to popular films like “Lionheart.”
Wild Top Dog Fighting Championship bout turns into something out of “Lionheart” and “Kickboxer”
The company has developed a serious following on social media by posting clips of some of their best fights. Earlier this week they released highlights from a classic bout between Alexander “Drago” Shapovalov and Gia “The Ogre” Torchinava.
Video of the bout can be found above and as you’ll see the clash devolves into an absolute blood bath that mirrors “Rocky” and “Kickboxer.” It is an all-out war that showcases the insane level of toughness of fighters on the Top Dog Fighting Championship roster.
It closes with “The Ogre” quitting, and understandably so after taking a serious beating. The promotion’s YouTube channel currently has over 1.5 million subscribers and offers many of their previous fights.
