UFC 305: Kai Kara-France Lives Up To Nickname With Quick KO

They call Kai Kara-France “Don’t Blink,” and at UFC 305 Saturday night, he proved it.

Kara-France knocked out Steve Erceg in a battle of former flyweight contenders in the co-main event.

The finish came just over four minutes into the opening round and marked the 13th first round finish for Kara-France.

“To get back here, a year ago I had to take time away,” Kara-France said. “I had to reflect, balance all the other priorities.”

The 31-year-old from New Zealand had not fought since a June 2023 split decision loss to Amir Albazi. This was his first win since 2022 after losing to Brandon Moreno that same year for the title.

“I have the best team in the world,” Kara-France said. “This is what we love, what we do.”

Overall, he is now 25-11 with a no-contest. For Erceg, the loss was his second straight and came in his home country. He also fell to Alexandre Pantoja for the belt in May.”I knew

“I knew I had to be crafty, smart,” Kara-France said. “I had to set him up and couldn’t just let the cannon go. I had to be smart.

“This is the statement (win) I was talking about. I want my actions to be my loudest voice.”
