This week’s edition of WWE Raw saw the progression of many of the major storylines on the red brand. CM Punk and Drew McIntyre agreed to what should be a brutal strap match at Bash in Berlin. The Wyatt Sick6 continued their weekly terrorizing of Chad Gable and American Made. Plus, WWE women’s tag champs Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn were able to hold on to their gold.

With the August 19 edition of WWE Raw in the books, let’s take a look at the biggest creative winners and losers from Monday’s show.

    Winner: Judgement Day

This new version of Judgement Day is in a difficult position. Their two brightest stars are out of the group and they are tasked with maintaining that same level of interest. However, in a short amount of time, Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan have done a great job of filling that massive void.

Furthermore, Finn Balor has been strong as the new unofficial leader. That was apparent again on this week’s WWE Raw as the purple-and-black gang left the “Terror Twins” decimated. The challenge remains but this version of Judgement Day has done well after a big storyline shift at SummerSlam.

    Loser: Iyo Sky

Iyo Sky is, arguably, the most talented female wrestler in the entire company. She earned a long reign as champion. But she also deserves to be a featured singles talent on WWE Raw. However, the benefits that being in Damage Control once brought are now becoming a detriment to Sky.

While she still gets ample time on television, Sky is stuck in a tag team with Kairi Sane that doesn’t seem to have much potential. It has pushed her down into an unfortunate position and it feels like an elite talent is being wasted in an underwhelming team.

    Winner: Bronson Reed

A couple of months ago, Bronson Reed seemed stuck in the water on WWE Raw. He was a talented wrestler that did not have much direction and his character had not been truly defined. However, after one brutal attack on Seth Rollins, he is now one of the biggest monsters on the brand.

That continued this week as he decimated The Miz in a fun no disqualification. It led to a surprise appearance from Braun Strowman to make the save and avoid another tsunami barrage. Now, Reed seems lined up for a major feud with a former world champion in a battle to decide the true monster on Raw.

    Loser: Final Testament

From the start, Final Testament has always seemed like a team bound to fail. Despite the best efforts of Karrion Kross and some really good work in recent months, the faction has just never taken off. It certainly doesn’t help that they continue to take notable losses and aren’t booked like a group to be feared on WWE Raw.

On Monday, they were handed another defeat. This time by the New Day and pal Odyssey Jones. If Xavier Woods doesn’t eventually turn on Kofi Kingston and join FT, this group will continue to fall into the role of a jobber faction.

    Winner: Sheamus

It was another edition of WWE Raw and another “banger” from Sheamus. While he is no longer in his physical prime, Sheamus knows how to put on entertaining and physical matches. He did so again this week against Pete Dunne in what was the match of the night. Another “banger” match makes the Celtic Warrior a winner from this week’s show.

    Loser: Chad Gable

Chad Gable is in a far better position than he was a few years ago. But it does seem unfortunate that such a talented performer continues to be the sacrificial lamb to the build of the Wyatt Sick6. WWE has put themselves in a tough spot where they have to make the new faction as formidable as possible, but they have slotted Gable into a spot that may have deeply damaged the strong momentum he built over the first half of the year.

    Winner: Wyatt Sick6

Speaking of the Wyatt Sick6, they continue to be one of the coolest things on WWE Raw each week. Although their time on this week’s episode was limited, they still made a fun impact. And judging by the reaction of the crowd in Fort Lauderdale when they arrived, the work the company has done to create interest is working.
