Not a great shock perhaps, but John Cena confirms he has signed a new long term deal with WWE.

In terms of Superstars not likely to go anywhere, the list certainly starts with John Cena. It is really hard to imagine Cena leaving WWE , considering the time he’s been in the company and what he’s done. But, ever since Hulk Hogan did the unthinkable and left for WCW? Wrestling fans know to never say never. But, as his career winds down, it is entirely possible for us to start believing that John Cena did more for, and means more to, WWE than Hulk Hogan does, or did. He’s managed to stay with WWE for decades. No scandals to my knowledge. more Wishes granted than anyone else. He IS WWE.

And he has a contract that agrees with that.

John Cena revealed at the 2024 Money In The Bank PLE that 2025 would be his last year as an active wrestler within WWE. He was also quick to say that, while wrestling would conclude in 2025, his time with WWE would not. Some have asked if there would be a sum of money that would get him to un-retire ( he has said no ). Now, on his recent appearance with Club Shay Shay, he can really confirm he is sticking around.

On the appearance, he noted that he has already signed an extension that covers him for the short, medium and long term.He made it abundantly clear that he has no desire to work anywhere else, no matter what. He reiterated that WWE is his home. It means a lot to him to be a part of it. And, he doesn’t feel the need to go elsewhere (outside of Hollywood). So for John Cena, a new deal was a no brainer.

Not that you ever thought there’d be contractual drama between Cena and WWE. As far as statuses go, in all my years of doing news and features (which is approaching two decades), I cannot remember ever discussing a Cena contract issue. Never risking one expiring, no chance of him leaving. Nothing. So having him confirm he has signed one more long deal with WWE? That he sees himself a WWE lifer? It’s no shock, and it’s also exactly what should happen. Not saying it’s a reason he should break Flair’s record, but I think now I want him to more than ever.
