Ahead of a huge matchup at this weekend’s AEW All In event, promotion champion AEW Swerve Strickland is reportedly in the midst of a contract renegotiation.

We are just days away from one of the biggest events on AEW’s schedule. The company will roll into London on Sunday night to produce the 2024 edition of AEW All In from inside the legendary English arena Wembley Stadium.

There are many huge matchups set to go down, including native son Will Ospreay facing MJF for his American Championship. However, in the main event, Swerve Strickland will defend his AEW world title against WWE legend Bryan Danielson in a title vs. career bout.

It is another high-profile matchup for the former NXT talent. And it seems like his evolution into being one of the company’s top performers has led to surprise contract renegotiations between Strickland and AEW .

“I’ve always said me winning the AEW World Championship was phase two. That was the beginning of phase two of my career. Right now, I’m in the midst of like a renegotiation stage because I’m really enjoying my status here in AEW,” Strickland told Barstool Rasslin’ on Friday. “I’m enjoying everything about the locker room, the roster, the talent, the promotion. I love the fact that I’m a really big part of building the company to different revenue. Different avenues and things like that.

“That’s going to be the beginning of phase three of my career, and that is truly just the beginning of what’s about to happen for me. Not just the wrestling side but everything altogether as a performer.”

It’s unclear if Strickland’s AEW contract is nearing its expiration or if there is still a lot of time but they want to lock him into more years. It would make sense to avoid him getting anywhere near free agency since he has evolved into one of their most important talents.
