LA Knight pins Santos Escoba r to retain his United States Championship. Odds “were against him” from the open, as Angel and Berto attacked Knight before the bell. That got them booted, leading to the clean win.
Naomi, Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair take care of The Unholy Union and Blair Davenport.
The Bloodline retain the tag titles against the Street Profits. Post-match, DIY attempted to even the odds against Solo’s thugs, but it didn’t work out.
Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes defeat A-Town Down Under. The seeds have been sewn, hinted at and openly discussed, but thus far, Owens and Rhodes are fine. Even after Owens teased running at the champ with his own title belt.
Best Match
The opening title match was very satisfying. I also thoroughly enjoyed the main event. The card itself was solid.
Worst Match
No complaints, beyond more than four matches would be nice.
Noteworthy Moments
Waller tried to show that Kevin Owens likes to turn on people. He does have a history. But it was a wee bit of a surprise that WWE used the Chris Jericho bits, considering Jericho is a big part of AEW and seems unlikely to return any time soon.
And Solo made Jacob Fatu hand over his tag belt to Tonga Loa. The Guerillas of Destiny are fully the tag champs on SmackDown , with Fatu annointed as Solo’s personal protector.

Shocking Moments
Seeing Jericho get airtime was pretty shocking to me. Seeing Kevin Owens troll us all (at least, that’s my theory today) by taking the belt and nearly running it through Cody, only to hand it to him? It was almost another shocking moment.
Beyond that, this show was pretty straightforward. I am curious to see where Chelsea, Piper and Nia go, for what it’s worth. It could be an interesting union.
Lowlights
Four matches in two hours is a bit of a bummer. But it’s the last stateside SmackDown before the Bash, which results in a lot of other details needing to be addressed. It happens.

Kevin Owens was fire tonight. Cody was the guest on the Grayson Waller Effect, but Owens owned that segment. Liked what we saw there, and just overall enjoyed a solid, if not spectacular, SmackDown.
We have barely a week until Berlin. Next week’s blue brand show will have been taped, and has a few big matches that we already can look forward to. It should be a fairly big deal for the company in Germany, so I have high expectations.
