Across WWE and WCW (and elsewhere) Sycho Sid (real name Sid Eudy) was a fearsome opponent. He was known in WCW as Sid Vicious, before he landed in WWE with the super original Sid Justice change. He won world titles for both companies along the way, but his career was hindered by injuries later on down the line. Still, from his freaky entrance theme, to his mannerisms and strength, he was not someone you wanted to fight.
As reported by Fightful , Sid’s son Gunnar Eudy posted that his father had passed away at the age of 63 from cancer. My first thought, of course, is that thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of sadness. Cancer sucks (I have stronger words for it, but not here). It is hard to lose a loved one, especially at such a relatively young age (yes, 63 nowadays is still “young”). When we have seen talents working who are older than that, it stings.

For as imposing as he was, his career almost feels incomplete. He did a lot, for sure. He worked with the Horsemen under Flair, he wrestled Hogan and the Warrior. Hall and Nash? Check. Sid’s resume is impressive. However, he bounced from WCW to WWE and back (and then back, because WWE bought WCW). Things screeched to a halt in 2001 when, in WCW, he took the advice of John Laurinaitis and tried to add some aerial moves. He was uncomfortable and should have stuck to his guns, as one leap from the middle ropes resulted in a gruesome broken leg that all but ended his career.
His son said it in his social media post-had the injury not happened, Sycho Sid would have easily etched his name in wrestling lore. He could have become even bigger than he was. And, seeing others in their 60s still chasing some of the new big paydays? It wouldn’t be hard to imagine Sid showing up to work a few shows. But, I’d bet he’d be just as happy going away and playing softball, as he was known to do.
