Our SmackDown results for August 30th, 2024 are here, and we can’t help but notice that Berlin turns blue ahead of Saturday’s Bash.

    Quick Results:

    • LA Knight defeated Ludwig Kaiser to retain the United States Championship. Knight came out to a big pop, but Kaiser-the home country guy-got a bigger one answering the open challenge.
    • Legado del Fantasma defeat Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews
    • Carmelo Hayes once again defeats Andrade.
    • Nia Jax retains over Michin in a street fight. Lots going on, but the ending went as you’d expect.

    Best Match:

It’s almost unfair to have to pick one. Knight and Kaiser was really good. A great way to open the show, especially with the German-born Superstar getting the crowd into a frenzy. The tag match? OK, fine, maybe not MOTN quality, but still really fun for what it was. Carmelo and Andrade? Fight forever, right? Our main even was strong too. More a train wreck than a match, which you’d expect from a street fight. Loved seeing the women swing the lumber like Mike Schmidt.

Of all those, I am probably giving a nod to Hayes and Andrade. If I had my way, we’d get gold on one of them and then do a best of seven type series. But we are already seeing that, if unofficially.

    Worst Match:

Of those listed? Maybe the tag match is fourth best. Because I can’t call it worst. Fourth best.

    Noteworthy Moments:

As you probably would expect, the German-born Kaiser was massively over with the crowd. Honestly, love some of these international shows and crowds, because they really bring the energy. If the Bash crowd is as hot-or hotter- than Friday’s show, then the PLE atmosphere is going to rock. And I did enjoy Knight and Kaiser sharing a smile before locking up, with the champ acknowledging that awesome moment.

An interesting segment between Cody and Kevin Owens. Part of me thought maybe they were trying too hard. But then part of me thought, maybe they are being too real? And my guess for what Owens whispered in Rhodes’ ear? “Were we ever really friends”.

We got a teased cash-in, a Bayley return to cancel out Tiffy Time, and then…Michin squashed in a garbage can. That main event was fun, and I feel like this is Nia’s best run since her dominant time in NXT .

    Holy S@#$ Moments:

It was crazy having Knight come out to a massive face pop, and then heel Ludwig Kaiser get a bigger one. If you never watched before, you’d think it was two of the biggest and most popular Superstars battling.

Owens continues to tease a bit of a heel behavior. He can be a great heel, but I am enjoying him as a face, so I will be one to say it. I rather not see him turn. That said, Owens pointing out Rhodes is banged up (and sounds under the weather)? It does nothing but plant seeds of doubt.

    Lowlights:

Maybe that I goofed and clicked on the spoiler e-mail when I didn’t want to. But I still watched the show as if it were live. And I don’t regret it, because it was a fun SmackDown .

Have I mentioned the hot crowd for SmackDown? I hope so. I am sure I have. But it is worth another mention. Crowds like these result in amped up talent, so it’s a win for everyone.

    After The Final Bell:

That’s it folks. No more waiting, after these SmackDown results it is time for Bash in Berlin. If that crowd can bring that same intensity, it has to boost the Superstars to really deliver. I expect a strong PLE tomorrow.
