We know he’s on WWE radar, and now Ricky Starks speaks about his extended AEW television absence.

We’ve heard a lot about what he could, or could not do with WWE. But it’s all been speculation, since by all accounts, Ricky Starks is very much still under AEW contract. But, while he may be under contract, he has not been seen on AEW television in several months (dating back until the end of March). Since we last saw him, there has been plenty of talk about why we haven’t seen him.

Was AEW unhappy with him? Or was he unhappy with AEW? Perhaps there were some creative differences? There were some even more creative explanations for his time away from television, with some fans taking to social media to insinuate that Starks was perhaps a bit difficult to work with?

    And Starks finally spoke out.

While he did shoot down a rather preposterous theory, it doesn’t really resolve things, does it? We know he is alive and well. It’s clear he’s paying attention. Reports have indicated that he is healthy and cleared to wrestle as well. So is Starks just sitting it out because AEW has nothing for him yet? Or is he in long time timeout because AEW is aware of the interest WWE has in him (and he may have in?). That we still do not know.

There have been reports that WWE indeed has thoughts of putting Starks in NXT. If or when he becomes a free agent, that could happen. And if it does, and he head to NXT ? He would have a chance to join a number of other former AEW talents that are bow thriving in Orlando. Shawn Spears and Brian Pillman Jr would be fine examples, but All Ego Ethan Page might be the best of the bunch-considering he is the current NXT Champion. So, is there more to Ricky Starks and his AEW absence?
