Mark Henry is critical of AEW after doing nothing with him for years, claiming they only wanted his recognition and visibility from WWE.

Mark Henry joined WWE in the mid 1990s and it did not seem like he would last. On several occasions, especially in the beginning, it felt like WWE was ready to move-on. Henry kept practicing and was finally accepted. He even won the World Heavyweight Championship towards the end of his run. Therefore, it was surprising when he left for AEW.

While on the Huge Pop podcast , Henry noted his time in AEW was for the company to gain name recognition and he was not a fan . “I was there for name recognition and visibility,” said Henry. “And, that’s a horrible place to feel if you’re a creative and there’s people that do a good job that I like, they’re thinking and their thought processes. So, you have to do what you’re told. If I own a company, you best believe you better do what I ask you to do or you won’t work for me. Go and get your check and go home. Do what you’re asked to do, handle your creative and you make a suggestion, don’t get the boo-boo face when you get told no.”

Outside of being used to promote the main event of Rampage, Henry did little in AEW . Henry continued how AEW does everything last minute. Instead, he sees value in rehearsals occurring earlier in the day. Also, as for the declining ratings, Henry sees talent as mentally checking out and do not care as much. As for Triple H , he likes how he structures WWE where he relies on help from others. For Tony Khan , his opinion is final.

“The World’s Strongest Man” debuted for MLW since leaving AEW. And, he was even spotted in attendance for RAW on August 12. Oddly enough, his son was sitting beside him. The same son who recently inked a deal with WWE. Therefore, Henry returning to WWE in a backstage role seems very likely. So, is Mark Henry and his critical reaction to AEW warranted?
