Time for your SmackDown results for September 6, 2024, and it’s time for the blue brand to say farewell to FOX.

    Quick Results:

    • Bayley defeats Tiffany Stratton, with a bit of an assist from Nia Jax. Feels like Nia wasn’t thrilled with Tiffany teasing a cash-in, so big sis had some fun.
    • Apollo Crews upsets Giovanni Vinci in just about five seconds. Curious way to bring him back, but we shall see.
    • Kevin Owens defeated Grayson Waller and Austin Theory. Post match, the heels got some revenge and beat down KO.
    • The Bloodline defeat DIY and The Street Profits

    Best Match:

The main event was fun, but I will be quite honest. I really liked the Bayley-Tiffany match. Stratton lost, which gets the tension between her and Nia Jax building more-which is good. Plus, she didn’t lose clean, so she’s protected. Also she’s got the MITB briefcase shield-one successful cash in and this loss won’t mean a thing.

Throwing this out there. Next week, could Bayley be seriously outnumbered on the blue brand USA debut, and we get one of the Horsewomen coming back to save her? Would not surprise me, given the rumors of a forthcoming Flair/Stratton feud.

    Worst Match:

I have to say I will wait and see what happens with Giovanni Vinci, but it doesn’t look great. First WWE opts not to at least have some immediate revenge feud between he and Imperium. Then they send him off to the blue brand to do his own thing, and he loses to Apollo Crews in a blink? The same Crews who is basically a jobber now? Someone, please, make it make sense.

    Noteworthy Moments:

The Bloodline got fed DIY and The Street Profits. The match was entertaining enough, but it did feel a bit one sided. Like, never did I ever think the faces had a shot.

    Holy S#!^ Moments:

Not really, but close enough. Cody called out Jacob Fatu, implying he views the Samoan Werewolf as a bigger threat for his championship. Fatu stepped up, as requested, but pledged his allegiance to his fraudulent tribal chief and that was it. Instead, we get Solo Sikoa and Cody Rhodes, for the title, on the USA Network SmackDown debut next week. In a steel cage, too.

Who wants to bet we see any one of Paul Heyman, Jimmy Uso or Roman Reigns .

And, don’t overlook it. Was almost lost in the shuffle. But Andrade and Carmelo are gunning for LA Knight and the United States Championship. I love Knight winning gold, but I could easily see either party taking it from him.

    Lowlights:

The Vinci match for sure. Not saying he should have come back at a GUNTHER level, not at all. But never did I expect what he got tonight.

    Highlights:

This one felt like cleaning up the house before handing over the keys. Was a good show, but you just sense that the big stuff is next week. It’s the “season premiere”, and the debut of SmackDown on USA. There was zero chance any big surprises happened tonight, knowing what next Friday is. Plus, I have to think that they played SmackDown safe going up against the NFL .

    After The Final Bell:

And with that, the WWE on FOX era comes to a close-for now, at least. I wouldn’t say they couldn’t go back, TV deals do come up for re-negotiation, and provided WWE doesn’t slow down, in a few years, I’d expect FOX will at least be talking. But for now, an era that started with Lesnar stealing the title and crushing Kofi-Mania, ends with The Bloodline standing tall as we head to a new network.
