As the recently rebooked fight with Stipe Miocic draws closer, Jon Jones is strongly considering walking away from the sport. While at the Las Vegas Sphere to see UFC 306 , the GOAT candidate said that the end is nigh on his legendary career.

After describing himself as “250 pounds lean and strong” for the November main event, Jon Jones confirmed that this could be his swan song. “It’s going to be the last time,” Jon Jones bluntly told Clocked ‘N Loaded.

Jon Jones has been conspicuously absent from the Octagon in recent years. Following a controversial decision win over Dominick Reyes in 2020, the then-light heavyweight champion went on an extended hiatus. He re-emerged at UFC 285 with a first-round submission over Ciryl Gane for the vacant heavyweight title.

Since then, Jones suffered an injury that scrapped a title defense against Miocic last November. Similarly, Miocic has been inactive as well. His last outing took place in 2021 when he lost the belt to Francis Ngannou via second round KO.

Jon Jones Leaving Tom Aspinall Without a Dance Partner

In the 18 months since “Bones” last stepped into the Octagon, Tom Aspinall captured the interim title . The rising English star has since defended it, staking his claim as the deserving challenger for the undisputed throne.

Despite Aspinall’s campaign for a unification bout and a vocal segment of the fanbase demanding it, UFC CEO Dana White is not convinced.

“He’s working his way up. He’s climbing up the ladder. Everyone says, ‘He deserves this and he deserves that.’ The dude doesn’t deserve anything. He looks great and he looks like he’s going to be the guy,” White said to Kevin Iole shortly after Aspinall defended his strap at UFC 304 .

“Whoever wins [Jones vs. Miocic,] I think they owe it to Aspinall to fight him,” he said, contradicting his own words moments later.

With Jones’ recent admission and White’s assessment that Miocic is “100%” retiring after the fight, Aspinall is unlikely to unify the titles.
