Barcode swap fails, woman charged
Hemlock Township, Pa. — A woman allegedly swapped barcodes on clothing at Walmart in an effort to lower her checkout total. An investigation into a June 28 theft led police to Barbara Ann Ercolino, of Danville, according to Hemlock Township Police Officer Craig Johnson. The 60-year-old Ercolino managed to avoid paying $78 to Walmart by swapping the bar codes, Johnson added. Ercolino is being charged with retail theft and defiant trespassing. She is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing with Judge Doug Brewer at the end of August. No bail is listed for Ercolino. Docket sheet

Man will be Charged for a Fatal Crash
DANVILLE – The Daily Item reports a Hughesville man will be charged in connection to a fatal crash in Montour County. 45-year-old Anthony Machi has been charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence. Police say Machi was under the influence of marijuana when he crashed his vehicle on Interstate 80 in Liberty Township on New Year’s Day. His passenger, Yainyles Gomez was killed in the accident.
Chad Snyder appointed to state board of funeral directors
As a third-generation funeral director, Chad Snyder has a unique perspective of the profession. In 1947, Chad's grandfather, Charles F. Snyder, opened a funeral home in downtown Lancaster, and the business grew to offer locations in Millersville, Willow Street, Lititz and other parts of the county. Chad watched his father, Chip Snyder, run the business after Charles retired, and Chad became the director in 2018. Chad was appointed to the Pennsylvania State Board of Directors earlier this year, and he said he plans to use his experience to bridge the gap between funeral directors and state legislators to benefit Lancaster and communities throughout the state.
