5.0-magnitude earthquake hits Texas Friday morning
SCURRY COUNTY, Texas — Another earthquake hit West Texas Friday morning, causing tremors felt across the area. The United State Geological Survey initially reported the earthquake at 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale at 9:28 a.m. Friday about 9.2 miles northeast of Hermleigh. Later, the agency said the mainshock of the event was registered at 5.0 on the Richter scale. It was then upgraded to a 5.1 magnitude by the USGS.
