RIPLEY, WV (WOWK) – The annual Mountain State Art & Craft Fair is returning to Jackson County this 4th of July weekend.
The MSACF is set to take place from July 4 to July 7 at the Ceder Lakes Conference Center near Ripley. The event will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, and free parking will be available.
Here’s the 2024 Ripley 4th of July Celebration schedule of events The event will include multiple artisan vendors as well as the annual quilt show and the kid’s fishing derby. Some activities at the MSACF will include a pie-baking contest and glass-blowing, tinsmithing, cooking and gardening demonstrations.
“What makes us unique is that we showcase the best of West Virginia and Appalachia culture through the arts,” MSACF President Jean Smith. “All of our artisans are juried and some learn their craft from parents and grandparents, or through apprenticeships, preserving the craft for future generations.”
Smith also says many of the artisans actually create some of their work at the fair to give event-goers a chance to see their process in action.
The event’s opening ceremony is set for 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, and organizers say US Army Veteran and Director of the WV Women Veterans Program Jessica Lynch will be a special guest during the ceremony.

Determined, resolute, hardworking and dedicated to preserving our culture while looking for ways to improve our state moving forward,” said Smith. “We’re honored she’ll be joining us.”
The event will also feature live music including bluegrass musicians and pickers, along with oral storytellers.
