One year ago to the day of last year’s catastrophic flooding, our city awoke to a flood watch due to the remnants of Hurricane Beryl making its way up the east coast. While Montpelier was largely spared from most of the damage, our neighboring towns in Barre, Waterbury, Middlesex, and Plainfield weren’t as lucky. As this past year has made crystal clear, flooding continues to be one of the biggest challenges we’ve ever had to face as a community.
