Middlebury’s Keziah Wilde Wins the 2024 Donovan Award

Middlebury’s Keziah Wilde was named the 2024 Donovan Award winner on Wednesday night. The three-time D-III champion becomes the first Middlebury Pranksters women’s division player to win the award.

BRANDON—Joey Scarborough was driving racecars years before he even had a license to drive himself to school. At 14, he used a booster to give him the extra height he needed in the seat, but he was racing and gaining the experience—“seat time,” he calls it—that has allowed him to rack up wins at all the local tracks. Now 27, he’s had a great start to his 2024 season: a win at Devil’s Bowl in West Haven, a win at Airborne Park in Plattsburgh, and two wins at Malta in Ballston Spa. And we’ve barely even cracked July.

Festival on the Green is coming up
Middlebury’s Festival on the Green begins this coming Sunday, July 7. The perennial weeklong event, run entirely by volunteers, this year will bring 14 different performing groups to the tent on the town green, offering up a wide variety of musical genres and styles, as well of something for the kids at the noontime Brown Bag lunch performances.
Brandon’s Independence Day Parade to Feature Vermont’s 40th Army Band
Saturday, July 6 at 10 a.m. – BRANDON – Celebrate Independence Day in Brandon with free events all day on Saturday, July 6. There will be a parade, contests, children’s activities, beer garden, auctions, street dance, fireworks and much more. One of the parade highlights this year will be the 40th Army Band from the Vermont National Guard. About 20 members of the band will be attending and proudly marching along the parade route. The 40th Army Band was originally started in 1907.

Community Group Tries to Halt $3.4 Million Sale of Goddard Campus
On July 3, an ad-hoc community group filed a request for a temporary injunction, asking a Montpelier court to stop the sale of Goddard College. This action follows a June 26 letter sent to the Office of the Vermont Attorney General in which the college wrote that a $3.4 million sale of the campus is expected to close this July or August. The college did not name the buyer.
Neers Begin Win Streak, Again
