Regional pro disc golf tournament comes to Liberty
LIBERTY — Stocksdale Park, 901 S. LaFrenz Road, will be the site for the Kansas City Wide Open Tournament as a part of the Disc Golf Pro Tour this July. The Bad Rock Creek Disc Golf Course in Stocksdale Park will be closed July 6 to July 15 for the tournament.
Liberty Parks & Rec Foundation raising funds for senior scholarships
LIBERTY — This year’s Liberty Parks & Rec Foundation’s campaign added raising funds to provide senior scholarships to its initiatives. Over the years, the foundation has been able to raise funds for projects that go above and beyond what can be afforded in the city’s normal parks budget. Those projects have included upgrading the performing arts theatre’s lights, adding solar lights to park entrances as well as shade structures in Capitol Federal Sports Complex and at the outdoor pool and new playground equipment. LPRF started its annual campaign in 2017.
